The Port is situated in the State of Colima, in the Republic of Mexico, at the geographic coordinates: North Latitude 19º03´30´´ y 104º18´30´´
Short Term Actions
Our main objective is to make Manzanillo a World Class Port, and to this end, the projects programmed for the period 2001-2002, have as their principal objective, increasing the capacity of the Port, facilitating cargo turnaround, and to creating the necessary conditions for receiving fifth generation Mega-Carrier ships. This will allow us to position ourselves as a Regional Hub and to achieve the world class certification by the year 2003:
In order to achieve this, for the years 2001 and 2002, $ 416 million pesos will be invested in the following projects:
- Dredging of channels and turning basins up to -16.0 m.
- Widening the north turning basin to 527.0 m.
- Substitution of the Navy pier.
- Construction of docking position no.15 of 300.0 m.
- Dredging of 1.5 million cubic meters, to increase the waterfronts in the reserve area.
- Increase the highway to Jalipa to six lanes in the Pez-Vela-Overpass section.
- Installation of the Maritime Traffic Control Center by the year 2003.
- Construction of a cargo distribution center
