Manzanillo remains global benchmark, since thanks to the modern infrastructure of the Port Authority (API) to quality services in the port community and the hard work of international marketing, Manzanillo now occupies fifth place in the growth of all port in the world.
International Containerisation international magazine, which publishes its annual 2011 (Yearbook) in June, highlights Manzanillo 35.9% growth in the volume of container cargo movement, compared to 2009, ranking fifth worldwide in this area, besides that this enabled him to move up two seats in the ranking of the top 100 ports worldwide, is now number 76, noting that in 2009 ranked number 90.
Containerisation International publishes its list of the 10 fastest growing ports to Tangier Med with a 68.4% growth over the previous year, in second with 45.4% Taicang, at the site located at St Petersburg 3 with 43.7 in Balboa fourth with a 37.1% and in fifth place Manzanillo is a surprising 35.9 percent, just two tenths over Balboa.
This international journal, year after year delivers awards to the best ports worldwide in October "Containerisation International Awards 2011", stressed in his yearbook that only three ports in the Americas came in the top 10, first port of Balboa (Panama ), second to the Port of Manzanillo (Mexico), and followed it the port of Seattle (USA).
Expectations are very encouraging for the port of Manzanillo, which currently ranks seventh in the UN list of the top 10 ports in Latin America, and Mexico reaffirmed Number One, as the Federal Government through the API is investing in infrastructure more than $ 210 million, with construction of the Specialized Container Terminal 2.
The TEC 2 will be to double the capacity of container handling volume of over 4 million and generate more and better jobs. Note that the port of Manzanillo generates today, directly and indirectly 50 percent of all jobs in the state of Colima.
